Department Overview
The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, known as one of the pioneers in personalized cancer medicine, is an international leader in research and cancer treatment. Driven by its mission to end cancer as we know it, the institute is building upon its expertise in targeted treatments to advance the early detection of cancer when the disease is most treatable. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Allow for additional provider coverage in our Community Oncology Clinics. Seeing up to 15 patients a day, address urgent needs and evaluate the patient situation and determine the tolerance of the treatment, review labs, and modify orders as needed. See new patients in conjunction with attending physician. Write chemotherapy orders when treatment plan has been initiated by attending physician in compliance with credentialed privileges. Manage patient anticoagulation, as appropriate. Work closely with phone triage staff to manage patient issues and problems and see patients emergently as add-on/walk-ins as appropriate or requested by attending physician. Admits patients to community hospitals as appropriate in collaboration with attending physician. Rounds on patient in community hospitals as requested by attending physician in compliance with community hospital credentialed privileges.
Required Qualifications
Education & experience:
- Physician Assistant: Valid/Current State of Oregon Physician Assistant License, State of Oregon Licensure under Community Oncology MD, required
- Nurse Practitioner. Valid State of Oregon Registered Nurse license, current Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon, State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges, required.
Preferred Qualifications
Recommended minimum of one year experience as a nurse practitioner. Minimum of 1 year oncology experience.
