Job Summary
The Certified Nurse Midwife provides comprehensive midwifery care and treatment to pregnant, postpartum, gynecology, and family planning patients within women’s services practices. The role includes developing and maintaining collaborative and consultative relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecologic, and family planning care
Perform assessments, examinations, and develop individualized care plans
Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations
Maintain collaborative agreements with supervising physicians as required
Educate patients and families on health promotion, pregnancy, childbirth, and reproductive health
Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records
Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Demonstrate appropriate clinical independence while ensuring safe, evidence-based practice
Requirements
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) accredited midwifery education program
Experience:
None required
Licensure/Certifications/Registration:
Current Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP)
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
DEA license
Collaborative agreement with a physician as required by state regulations
Life Support:
AHA BLS-HCP certification required
Other Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with state regulations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Computer literacy, including electronic medical records systems
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare providers
Demonstrates appropriate independence in clinical practice
