Mayne Island is a small but centrally located community only two hours from Vancouver, BC. and only an hour from Victoria, BC. Enjoy our mild climate and abundant natural, oceanfront beauty with outdoor recreation (hiking, kayaking, swimming, biking) as well as music, theatre, sports, and dancing. We will offer our Nurse Practitioner complete housing or a housing stipend for a year. The clinic is well-established with a physician, a part-time RN, and part time health providers for physiotherapy, chiropractory, counseling, and audiology. You will be welcomed by the health board, the health professionals and your patients!

Requirements
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the comprehensive assessment of patients/clients/residents including diagnosing diseases, disorders and conditions. The Nurse practitioner initiates treatment including health care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribes medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards, limits and conditions, policy and guidelines.
This position collaborates with patients/clients/residents and other members of the interdisciplinary team to identify and asses trends and patterns that have implications for patients/clients/residents, families and communities; develops and implement population and evidence based strategies to improve health and participates in policy-making activities that influence health services and practices. The position participates in peer review and self review to evaluate the outcome of services at the patient/client/resident, community and population level.
As a nurse practitioner you will be a vital member of a community health center on Mayne Island, B.C. As a member of the healthcare team, you will provide preventative care, health promotion, and acute and chronic disease management. Within the context of an interdisciplinary health care team, you will both practice autonomously and interdependently. At times you will provide professional guidance to other health professionals.
