NAVY NURSE CORPS: SERVE THOSE WHO SERVE
As an Officer in the Nurse Corps, you’ll provide high-quality nursing care wherever there’s a need, from top-tier medical centers, shipboard facilities, and humanitarian missions overseas. You’ll gain unparallel hands-on experience and funded training across inpatient, outpatient, operational, and academic settings. You’ll work closely with other healthcare providers to carry out job responsibilities such as:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Sailors, Marines, military family members, retirees, and global communities.
- Collaborate with Physicians, Surgeons, Cardiologists and other specialists to create and administer treatment plans.
- Train and lead Hospital Corpsmen on how to provide high-quality patient care.
- Apply leading-edge medical advances at world-class hospitals
- Utilize some of the most advanced technology on the planet, such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), which can lead to less paperwork and more meaningful patient care
- Assist with global relief efforts such as providing emergency care to victims of natural disasters
Work Environment
Over 250 Navy and medical facilities around the globe, from Hawaii to Japan, Germany to Guam and Washington D.C. to Washington State.
Two Dedicated Hospital Ships: USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy

PAY AND BENEFITS
Competitive officer salary

ACCESSION BONUSES & Obligation
Any Specialty: $30,000 lump sum (3-year obligation) or $50,000 (4-year obligation)
Critical Care Nursing: $100,000 for a 4-year obligation (paid $25,000 annually), eligibility considerations include two+ years of full-time clinical exp as a critical care registered nurse in the preceding two years before accession
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner: $120,000 for a 4-year obligation (paid $30,000 annually)
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA): $250,000 for a 4-year obligation (paid $62,500 annually)

Requirements
BASIC ELIGIBILITY SNAPSHOT
- Citizenship & Age: U.S. citizen; commissioned before 42nd birthday (age waivers considered case-by-case).
- Education: BSN or higher from ACEN or CCNE-accredited program; advanced practice (CRNA/NP/CNM) requires master’s or doctorate and national certification.
- License: Unrestricted RN license (NCLEX required).
- Experience (Active Component):
- Critical Care & Labor & Delivery: 1 year full-time (or 2 years part-time) direct patient care
- All other specialties: minimum 1 to 2 year direct patient care.
- Serve a minimum of 3 to 4 years active duty (dependent on obligation agreement)
