Position Summary
This exciting opportunity is for someone interested in the field of science and engineering looking to gain experience in a biotech company working with microfluidics and advanced microscopy methods. This internship will help the student both to gain a better fundamental understanding of practical scientific applications as well as hands-on experience developing new technology.
A successful bioengineering intern is an individual who is an excellent problem solver with the ability to identify faults in designs, as well as develop and implement solutions, even when the projects are complex. The candidate will work closely with the laboratory manager and remote teams to lead the projects through major organizational milestones and goals in the field of sequencing. The candidate will be actively participating in development of detailed project plans, tracking project plan execution against established targets, identifying, and facilitating resolution of issues, and communication of the project status. He/She will promote strong values of dedication, execution excellence, and collaborative organization to help advance our technology forward.

Key Responsibilities
· Attend and present findings in project execution meetings.
· Document meeting summaries and follow-up on new initiatives.
· Manage, organize, and utilize cloud-based databases for inventory management and protocols.
· Read detailed scientific literature to learn about new methods and develop a material understanding.
· Be able to thoroughly compile all of his/her work in a scientific electronic notebook, including clear and precise images, notes, and displays of your results.
· Write new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and include visuals as necessary.
· Manage supply inventory, including ordering of new reagents, parts, and other miscellaneous supplies from online vendors.
· Quickly learn new techniques and proper operation of instrumentation. Be able to reliable utilize machinery and implement changes as they arise.
· Display advanced critical thinking in project design working with teammates and manufacturers on the development of both hardware and software.
· Provide administrative support, as needed and assist in project execution activities.
XGenomes recognizes the workload of ambitious college students and offers flexible work schedules in order to coordinate with students. However, we are looking for someone who can find availability to work in person in the late morning to early afternoon at least 3 days a week.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
· Pursuing undergraduate degree in biotechnology, bioengineering, engineering or related field of study.
· Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
· Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Google Drive.
· Prior lab experience is a plus.
· Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrated team player and takes initiative.
