Mary Washington Healthcare’s Gastroenterology practice in Fredericksburg, Virginia, is seeking both inpatient and outpatient NPs and PAs to join our growing practice of eleven physicians and eight advanced practice providers. We’re looking for energetic, compassionate, and motivated candidates that are committed to delivering exceptional patient care. Join a well-established gastroenterology practice working alongside experienced GI physicians and advanced practice providers in a supportive outpatient setting. The role involves managing a broad range of GI conditions, including colon cancer screening, Barrett’s esophagus, GERD, IBS, fatty liver disease, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Inpatient Position Duties/ Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the attending Gastroenterologist to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute GI conditions.
Perform initial GI workups and follow-up assessments as directed.
Participate in daily hospital rounds, reviewing test results, documentation, and care plans.
Round at both Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital. Hospitals are approximately 20 minutes apart.
Partner with residents and, beginning Fall 2026, GI Fellows as part of an academic and team-based environment.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Outpatient Position: Duties/ Responsibilities
Collaborate with a team of experienced GI physicians and APPs in a well-established and supported outpatient clinic.
Focus areas include a wide range of GI disorders including colon cancer screening/surveillance, Barrett’s esophagus, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, fatty liver, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Participate in inpatient rounding at 2 hospitals, Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg and Stafford Hospital in Stafford, which are only about 15 minutes from each other. We do rounds on a rotational basis that includes weekdays and weekends. Weekend coverage is less than once a month from 7a-4p and we take NO overnight call.
No nights or after-hour calls

Qualifications
Active NP or PA license in the state of Virginia or eligible
AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire
1 year + experience in Gastroenterology preferred but not required; recent grads are encouraged to apply as we have robust mentoring and supervisory training in place
Ability to work with a team and build strong working relationships with healthcare team members
Demonstrate integrity, quality, adaptability, and desire to positively impact lives of our patients through compassionate care
Successful completion of pre-placement employment evaluation
