Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Hillcrest is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Waco, Texas.This is an opportunity to join a collaborative surgical practice providing comprehensive care throughout the patient journey, including pre-operative evaluations, post-operative management, outpatient clinic visits, and surgical support. The ideal candidate will have prior surgical experience and a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care alongside an experienced physician team.
With dedicated operating room time, a structured clinic schedule, and the resources of one of Texas' largest healthcare systems, this position offers the opportunity to build a rewarding surgical practice while making a meaningful impact for patients throughout Central Texas.

Position Highlights
• Join an established surgery practice
• Four days of operating room responsibilities each week
• One dedicated clinic day with approximately 20 patients
• Collaborative physician and APP team environment
• Provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care
• Prior surgical experience required
Schedule
• Monday: Operating Room (morning) and Clinic (afternoon)
• Tuesday: Operating Room
• Wednesday: Clinic (approximately 20 patients)
• Thursday: Operating Room
• Friday: Operating Room

The Nurse Practitioner - Surgical Specialty provides direct patient care within the scope of practice established by the supervising physician. This role supports surgical patients through evaluation, treatment planning, procedures, and follow-up care in both outpatient and hospital settings.
Responsibilities include:
• Performing comprehensive patient assessments, medical histories, and physical examinations
• Developing evidence-based treatment plans and coordinating patient care
• Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies
• Prescribing medications and treatments within scope of practice
• Providing pre-operative and post-operative care
• Performing procedures appropriate to training, experience, and delegated privileges
• Collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Educating patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and recovery
Qualifications
Education
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Experience
• One or more years of Nurse Practitioner experience
• Prior surgical experience required
Licensure & Certifications
• Current Texas RN license or RN license with compact privilege
• Current Texas APRN license
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification appropriate to the patient population
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
